Sixteen years ago, Sugar & Spice Bath and Bodycare didn’t begin in a storefront or a workshop.
It started in a kitchen.
With a handful of ingredients, a lot of determination, and a simple goal—to create products that felt better on the skin and safer for everyday use—I began making small batches for my family.
What I didn’t know then was that those first few products would grow into something that would last 16 years… and counting.
Where It All Began
Like many small businesses, this started with curiosity and a willingness to try.
Late nights. Small batches. Testing, learning, adjusting.
Packing up products for local markets and hoping people would connect with them.
And they did.
One customer turned into a loyal following.
Word spread. Orders grew. Confidence built.
That’s when it became clear—this wasn’t just something I enjoyed doing.
It was something worth building.
10 Years in Maple Ridge — A Place to Grow
While the business itself is 16 years old, this space—our retail location, also where we make all of our products, in Maple Ridge—has been part of the journey for the last 10 years.
This is where Sugar & Spice truly found its footing.
It’s where we’ve created thousands of products, tested new ideas, packed orders, and grown from a small operation into a brand you now see on store shelves across Western Canada.
This space holds a lot of history.
It’s where hard days happened.
It’s where big wins were celebrated.
And it’s where we kept showing up, day after day, building something meaningful.
What 16 Years Teaches You
Sixteen years in business teaches you a lot.
Not everything goes as planned—and that’s part of it.
There have been challenges:
Rising costs
Supply issues
Long days and even longer to-do lists
But there have also been lessons that shaped everything we do today:
